The GO Focus Plus is a dual dash cam for trucking, delivery and service fleets in Canada and the United States that want to see the road and the driver, and warn drivers in the cab when it detects risky driving. High Point GPS has it installed by professional installers, pairs it with the vehicle's telematics device and brings its video into the High Point GPS platform, so coaching is tied to real footage. A Road Only version records the road without a driver-facing lens.

## What does an AI dash cam for trucks do?

An AI dash cam for trucks watches the road and the driver, flags risky moments as they happen and saves the clip for review. The GO Focus Plus runs that detection on the camera itself, with 8 CPU cores, a GPU and an AI accelerator, and warns the driver through a built-in speaker.

Geotab lists the risks it picks up: distracted driving, fatigue, tailgating, hard braking, rear-end collision risk, backing incidents and blind spot risk. A driver can also press the event button to flag footage, for example after a near miss or when a customer disputes damage at a delivery stop.

## Why do in-cab voice alerts work better than a weekly report?

Most video telematics reports risky driving after the fact, in a weekly report or a coaching session days later. By then the driver often cannot recall the moment well enough for the feedback to stick, and the habit has repeated several times before anyone raises it.

The GO Focus Plus speaks up when it detects the risk, while the driver still knows what just happened. The clip stays in the platform afterwards, so a manager can sit down with the driver and the footage in the coaching conversation that follows.

## Road-facing or driver-facing: which version should you choose?

Both versions record the road ahead in 1080p with the same field of view. The dual dash cam adds a 720p cabin camera with a 940 nm infrared illuminator, which lets it see the driver in a dark cab.

Road Only suits fleets where drivers or company policy rule out in-cab recording, and Geotab presents it as the option for enhanced driver privacy. The trade-off is the cabin view: in a disputed incident, seeing what the driver was doing is often what settles the claim.

A driver-facing camera collects personal information about your drivers. If your fleet operates in Quebec, review your obligations under Quebec's privacy law (Law 25) before you switch it on, and tell drivers what is recorded and why. Road Only keeps the lens on the road.

## How much video does the GO Focus Plus store?

The included 128 GB tamper-proof microSDXC card holds roughly 35 to 40 hours of dual-camera drive time, according to Geotab. A 512 GB card raises that to about 140 hours, and a 1 TB card is also available.

Event videos are kept in the platform for 365 days by default. You choose what each event records (snapshot plus video, snapshot only, video only or none), and you can watch the camera in real time from the trips history page.

## Which vehicles and GO devices does it work with?

The GO Focus Plus is not a standalone camera: it connects to a telematics device in the vehicle and mounts on the windshield with industrial-grade adhesive. Geotab's specification page lists the GO9, GO9 RUGGED and OEM telematics as its vehicle interfaces.

High Point GPS confirms the pairing for each vehicle before install, then mounts and configures the camera. Our Montreal team handles setup and support in English and French. The camera runs from -20 °C to +60 °C and draws 6 W on 12 V or 24 V systems.

## How does the video show up in the High Point GPS platform?

Flagged clips upload to the High Point GPS platform next to the vehicle's trips, so your team reviews video in the same dashboard it uses for tracking. Nobody has to pull footage off an SD card by hand.

For backing and rear-door coverage, add the optional rear auxiliary camera, which also comes in an IP69K external version. Fleets that need side and rear views around the whole vehicle should look at the GO Focus Pro, which takes up to 5 auxiliary cameras.

## What does a driver-facing camera add to a dash cam?

A driver-facing camera shows what the driver was doing at the moment of an event: eyes on the road, on a phone or closing from fatigue. The GO Focus Plus uses its 720p infrared cabin camera to detect distraction and fatigue and to warn the driver by voice, and Geotab's Smart Driver ID matches each event to the right driver for coaching.

It also matters after a crash. In a 2023 survey of legal and insurance experts, the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) found that driver-facing footage, when available, exonerated drivers in 52% of insurance claims and 49% of litigation cases. ATRI's recommendations for fleets that use these cameras include event-based recording, the same cameras across all trucks, limited access to footage and a policy shared with drivers.

## How does coaching work with the GO Focus Plus?

Geotab's Smart Sequence surfaces the riskiest behaviours and events first, so a safety manager starts with the clips that matter. High-severity or repeated events are flagged to the manager, who reviews the video and event details and assigns feedback or coaching in the platform.

Drivers then review the feedback and recommended actions in the mobile app. Because each clip sits next to the vehicle's trips, the conversation covers where and how fast the vehicle was going as well as what the camera saw.

## How does the dual dash cam work with GO10 GPS tracking?

The camera handles video, and the GO10 handles GPS fleet tracking: location, speed, trips and engine data. Geotab's GO10 page says its next-generation GO devices support native video synchronization with the GO Focus family, while the GO Focus Plus specification page lists the GO9, GO9 RUGGED and OEM telematics as vehicle interfaces. We confirm the pairing for your vehicles before you order.

In the platform, video sits next to the trips, stops and driving events the tracking device records, so a manager can go from a harsh braking alert to the clip in one place.

## How is the GO Focus Plus installed?

Professional installers mount the camera on the windshield with industrial-grade adhesive and connect it for High Point GPS across North America, including Montreal. The GO10 tracking device it works with connects at the OBD-II (or 9-pin) port through a T-harness with no wires cut, or with a 3-wire kit where there is no standard port. A fleet can connect the GO10 itself, but we always recommend a professional installer.

Before installation, tell drivers what the camera records and why. In Quebec, sections 8 and 8.1 of the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector require notice when you collect personal information, and prior notice when the technology can identify, locate or profile a person. This is general information, not legal advice.

## FAQ

### Does the GO Focus Plus record the driver?

The standard GO Focus Plus does. It is a dual dash cam with a 1080p road-facing camera and a 720p cabin camera with a 940 nm infrared illuminator for low light. If you do not want a lens on the driver, the Road Only version records only the road ahead, in 1080p with the same field of view as the dual model.

### How many hours of video does a dash cam for trucks store?

On the GO Focus Plus, the included 128 GB card stores roughly 35 to 40 hours of dual-camera drive time, and a 512 GB card stores about 140 hours. A 1 TB card is also available. Event videos uploaded to the platform are kept for 365 days by default, so flagged clips stay available long after the drive.

### Can I watch live video from the dash cam?

Yes. Video from the GO Focus Plus can be viewed in real time from the trips history page in the platform, so a dispatcher or manager can check on a vehicle without waiting for an event. Recording settings also let you choose snapshot plus video, snapshot only, video only or no recording for each event.

### Does the GO Focus Plus work with the GO10?

Not confirmed yet. Geotab's GO Focus Plus specification page lists the GO9, GO9 RUGGED and OEM telematics as vehicle interfaces and does not name the GO10. Geotab's GO10 page says the GO10 is compatible with GO Focus dash cams, so ask us to confirm the pairing for your vehicles before you order.

### Should I choose the Road Only version for driver privacy?

Choose Road Only if your drivers or company policy rule out in-cab recording. It records the road in 1080p, and Geotab presents it as the option for enhanced driver privacy. The cost is the cabin view, which often settles a disputed incident. Fleets in Quebec should also review their privacy obligations under Law 25 before recording drivers.

### Does the dash cam talk to the driver?

Yes. The GO Focus Plus has a built-in speaker and microphone for in-cab alerts and coaching, so the driver hears a warning when the camera detects risky driving such as tailgating or distraction. Hearing it in the moment, while the driver still remembers what happened, makes the feedback easier to act on than a report days later.

### How much does a dual dash cam for a fleet cost?

High Point GPS quotes each fleet instead of publishing prices. The quote depends on the number of vehicles, dual or Road Only model, storage and the plan features you choose. Our plans run on 3-year contracts with the equipment free, and they can include add-ons, custom plans and bundles, such as the GO Focus Plus with GO10 GPS tracking on one plan.

### Who installs the GO Focus Plus?

Professional installers do, working for High Point GPS across North America, including Montreal. They mount the camera on the windshield with industrial-grade adhesive and connect it to the vehicle's tracking device. We confirm the pairing for each vehicle first, then configure the alerts and recording settings and support your team in English and French after installation.

### Is there a contract for the dash cam?

Yes. Our camera plans run on 3-year contracts, and the camera comes free with the plan. Plans can be customized or bundled with GO10 GPS tracking, or with the GO Focus Pro for vehicles that need side and rear views, and some include add-ons. Your quote lists what each plan covers before any hardware ships.

### Do I have to tell drivers about a driver-facing camera?

In Quebec, yes. The private-sector privacy act requires you to tell people why and how you collect their personal information and what rights they have (section 8), and to give notice beforehand when technology can identify, locate or profile them (section 8.1). A written camera policy signed before installation covers this well. Confirm your obligations with a lawyer.
