GPS Fleet Tracking in Manitoba

Manitoba IFTA is filed and renewed through TAXcess, the Taxation Division's online system. Paper renewal forms are no longer mailed to carriers, so a fleet that waits for one in the post will simply miss the window. The 2026 fees are $65 per carrier for the licence and $5 per set of two decals, and additional decals can be ordered inside the same TAXcess account.

Timing matters more here than the amounts. Renewal forms open in TAXcess in mid-October, credentials start being issued in early November, and processing runs about fifteen business days — and credentials are not issued until payment is received. A renewal left to late December is a renewal that may not be in the cab on January 1.

A Manitoba fleet's vehicles routinely operate hours from the nearest shop, in temperatures that turn a marginal battery or a slow-developing fault code into a roadside call. Engine fault reporting and maintenance reminders earn their place in a fleet like that: the point is not the report, it is catching the problem while the truck is still somewhere you can work on it.

The Emerson crossing adds the second layer. A truck running south is subject to US requirements the moment it crosses, and a device certified under one country's regime is not automatically valid under the other's, so cross-border fleets need both sides set up correctly rather than one side assumed.
