What Is Linxup, and How Does It Differ From High Point GPS?

Linxup sells low-cost GPS trackers to small businesses that mainly need location, while High Point GPS installs and supports a full telematics platform. Linxup is a US vendor of plug-in OBD units, hardwired units, battery trackers for equipment and dash cams, sold online with low monthly plans and a simple web and mobile app. It covers the core job (live location, trip history, basic alerts, driver behaviour scores and some maintenance reminders) at a price that is hard to beat for a fleet of three trucks.

High Point GPS vs Linxup at a Glance

Every row below can be checked on a public page: Transport Canada's list of certified electronic logging devices, read in October 2026, and Linxup's own website. High Point GPS is a Geotab partner, and the ELD it installs is Geotab's. Certification status changes over time, and the list notes that the certification body has the final say, so confirm the current entry before you sign.

What Does the Higher Price Buy?

The GPS tracking device High Point GPS installs reads far more from the vehicle: engine diagnostics, fault codes, fuel and EV data. The High Point GPS platform turns that into a rules engine, exception reports, maintenance based on real readings, an ELD certified in Canada and the US, IFTA distance reporting, and an API and add-on library that connect to dispatch, maintenance, cameras and sensors. The per-vehicle plan costs more than Linxup's entry rate, and High Point GPS installs, configures and supports the fleet as part of it. A fleet that only needs to know where the vans are doesn't need any of that. A fleet with a compliance obligation, a fuel problem or a customer asking for integration does.

Compliance and Room to Grow

Linxup's Apollo ELD is registered with FMCSA for US use. Linxup is not listed under its own name on Transport Canada's certified ELD list, though Apollo versions certified under Assured Techmatics appear there, so a Canadian fleet should confirm which certified version it would get. The ELD High Point GPS deploys is certified in both countries, which settles the question for any Canadian fleet over the threshold. Growth is the other factor. A fleet that starts on Linxup and later needs cameras, integrations or compliance has to migrate to a platform, while a fleet that starts with High Point GPS adds those to the devices it already has.

High Point GPS vs Linxup, Side by Side

If you have a handful of vehicles and only need location, Linxup is a sensible purchase. If compliance, fuel, maintenance or integration is part of the picture, or your fleet runs in Canada over the ELD threshold, start on High Point GPS. High Point GPS quotes small-fleet plans with installation across Canada and the United States.

Questions to Ask Before You Choose

Three questions sort most small fleets. First, does any vehicle run in Canada and weigh enough to need an ELD? If so, the Canadian certification is not optional. Second, is fuel, maintenance or a customer integration on the list of problems you want solved in the next two years? If so, the vehicle data and the API are the reason to start on the platform. Third, who will install the devices and answer the phone when one stops reporting? A three-truck landscaping company with none of those needs is well served by Linxup. A six-truck company that hauls across the border, or has a customer asking for arrival times in its own system, has already outgrown a plug-in tracker.

Frequently asked questions

Is Linxup cheaper than High Point GPS?

At the entry plan, yes. The High Point GPS plan includes more vehicle data, compliance tools such as an ELD certified in Canada and the US, and integrations, plus installation and support from the team that set up the fleet.

Does Linxup have a Canadian ELD?

Linxup's Apollo ELD is registered with FMCSA for US use. Linxup is not listed under its own name on Transport Canada's certified ELD list, though Apollo versions appear there under Assured Techmatics, so confirm which certified version you would get. The ELD High Point GPS deploys is certified in Canada and registered in the US.

Is Linxup enough for a three-truck business?

If the need is location and trip history, yes. Linxup covers live location, trips, basic alerts and driver behaviour scores at a low price. If compliance, fuel tracking or a customer integration is coming in the next two years, start with High Point GPS instead.

Can I move from Linxup to High Point GPS later?

Yes. Moving means a device swap and a platform build, since the High Point GPS tracking device and platform replace the Linxup hardware and app. Starting with High Point GPS avoids that migration, because cameras, integrations and compliance get added to the devices already installed.

Which has better support?

High Point GPS arranges professional installation, and its own team handles support, in French or English. Linxup support comes from the vendor and is remote. For a fleet that needs someone on the phone when a device stops reporting, that difference matters.
