How Geotab Plans Work: Devices, Tiers, Add-Ons and Contracts

Geotab plans bundle the GO device, a MyGeotab tier (GO Core or GO) and Marketplace access, with add-ons on top. How plans and our contracts work.

How Do Geotab Plans Work?

A Geotab plan is a subscription that bundles the GO device, a software tier in MyGeotab and access to the Geotab Marketplace, with add-ons such as cameras, IOX accessories and Marketplace solutions added on top. Geotab currently publishes two tiers, the GO Core Plan and the GO Plan, and says both include Geotab hardware in the subscription, with no upfront device cost.

High Point GPS is a Geotab partner: we work with Geotab and build the plan around your fleet. Our plans run on 3-year contracts with free equipment, and we put together custom plans and bundles that combine the tier, the add-ons, professional installation and support. This guide explains each part without prices, because no two fleets end up with the same plan.

What Are Geotab's Current Plans?

Geotab's software packages page lists two plans. GO Core is the entry level, described as essential fleet visibility and control. GO is the full platform: everything in GO Core plus advanced safety, compliance, predictive maintenance and sustainability tools. Geotab points fleets that must meet HOS and ELD rules to the GO Plan, where full HOS and ELD compliance sits.

What Happened to Base, Regulatory, Pro and ProPlus?

They are Geotab's older rate plans. Geotab's Support Center lists Regulatory, Pro and ProPlus as legacy plans that are no longer available. Regulatory added Hours of Service, IFTA and tachograph functions over Base; Pro added engine, accelerometer and EV data; ProPlus added Active Tracking and premium services such as roadside assistance.

The new names map onto the old ones. Geotab says GO Core is built on the same feature foundation as the legacy Base plan, with odometer, engine hours and fuel economy added in the Assets view, and that existing Base customers inherit GO Core functionality. The GO Plan offers the functionality of ProPlus, including Active Tracking and EV data, and adds support for Wi-Fi, Public Works and more. If a quote or an older contract still says ProPlus, ask which current plan it corresponds to.

What Goes Into a Fleet's Plan?

A plan usually has six parts. The device comes first: a GO10 in most vehicles, connected through a T-harness at the OBD-II or 9-pin port or a 3-wire kit, and a GO Anywhere battery tracker on trailers and equipment. Then comes the platform tier, GO Core or GO, which sets the features each device unlocks in MyGeotab.

Add-ons come next. AI dash cams such as the GO Focus Plus, IOX accessories that plug into the device's expansion port (driver ID readers, auxiliary inputs for a plow blade or a PTO, satellite modems) and Marketplace solutions from Geotab's partners. Geotab says the Marketplace offers 400+ solutions from 400+ partners and notes that additional cost may apply. Its rate plan page also lists a Wi-Fi hotspot as an extra monthly charge available in the US and Canada, Public Works as needing a GO9 or newer device and the IOX-WRKS cable, and the IOX-SATIRDv2 satellite modem as an extra cost on every plan.

The last two parts are people: installation and support. Geotab's GO10 harness documents say professional installation by a Geotab Authorized Installer is required, so a plan should say who installs each vehicle and who you call when a driver has a question.

How Do High Point GPS Plans Work?

High Point GPS plans run on 3-year contracts with free equipment. On top of the Geotab tier, we add the add-ons your fleet needs, such as dash cams, IOX accessories and Marketplace solutions, and we offer custom plans and bundles, plus bonuses we explain in the quote. Professional installation by our installers across North America, including Montreal, and support from our Montreal team in French and English are part of the service.

We also build custom add-ins for the platform when a fleet needs one. Because the plan is built from your vehicle list, a fleet with snowplows, an ELD truck and a few trailers gets each vehicle on the tier and hardware it needs, instead of one plan applied to every unit.

Can You Change a Geotab Plan Later?

Yes. Geotab says a fleet can request an upgrade from GO Core to the GO Plan directly from MyGeotab at any time, with no hardware swap, and that data and configuration carry over. Its rate plan page lists over-the-air plan upgrades as a device feature on every plan.

With High Point GPS, talk to our team before you change a tier, add cameras or add vehicles, so the change fits the terms of your contract and the new hardware is installed and tested.

Why Doesn't Geotab Publish Plan Prices?

Geotab's software packages page shows a Get Pricing button for each plan and no price, and it sends larger fleets to its sales team to discuss pricing for their size and requirements. The final number depends on the tier for each vehicle, the hardware, the add-ons, installation and the contract, which is why a plan is quoted per fleet.

High Point GPS does not publish prices either. We quote from your vehicle list, and the quote shows the tier, the equipment, each add-on, installation and support line by line.

What Should You Ask Before Signing a Plan?

Ask six questions. Which tier does each vehicle run on, GO Core or GO? Which hardware is included, and which harness or kit does each vehicle need? Which add-ons and Marketplace solutions carry an extra charge? Who installs the devices, and who tests them? Who answers support calls, and in which languages? What happens when you add, replace or retire a vehicle during the contract?

A clear answer to each one tells you what the plan covers before the first device is installed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Geotab GO Core and GO plans?

GO Core is Geotab's entry plan: real-time GPS tracking, basic routing and dispatch, maintenance by odometer and engine hours, basic IFTA reporting and basic fuel economy. The GO Plan includes everything in GO Core and adds full HOS and ELD compliance, predictive maintenance, full fuel monitoring, AI safety scoring, video telematics, EV tools and emissions reporting.

Is the Geotab device included in the plan?

Geotab says both the GO Core Plan and the GO Plan include Geotab hardware in the subscription, with no upfront device cost. High Point GPS plans run on 3-year contracts with free equipment. Each vehicle still needs the right harness or kit, and the quote should list the hardware and add-ons each vehicle receives.

Can I still get a Geotab ProPlus plan?

No. Geotab's Support Center lists Regulatory, Pro and ProPlus as legacy plans that are no longer available. Geotab says the GO Plan offers the functionality of ProPlus, including Active Tracking and EV data, and adds support for Wi-Fi, Public Works and more. Fleets on legacy plans can ask their partner how their plan maps to the current ones.

How long is a High Point GPS contract?

High Point GPS plans run on 3-year contracts with free equipment. Within that, we offer custom plans and bundles, add-ons such as dash cams and IOX accessories, and bonuses explained in the quote. Professional installation and support from our Montreal team, in French and English, are part of the service. We do not publish prices; each plan is quoted.

Are dash cams part of a Geotab plan?

Geotab lists video telematics and AI dash cam integration in the GO Plan. The camera itself, such as the GO Focus Plus, is a separate device. At High Point GPS, a dash cam is added to your plan as an add-on or included in a bundle, and our installers mount, aim and test it so the footage is usable.

Can I upgrade my Geotab plan later?

Yes. Geotab says a fleet can request an upgrade from GO Core to the GO Plan from MyGeotab at any time, with no hardware swap, and that data and configuration carry over. With High Point GPS, contact our team before changing a tier or adding hardware, so the change fits your contract and new devices are installed and tested.
