GPS Fleet Tracking & Telematics

High Point GPS vs Fleet Complete: Two Canadian Telematics Options Compared

Both are Canadian, both are everywhere in Ontario and Quebec, and they are built on opposite ideas: High Point GPS delivers the open Geotab platform with its own installation and support, Fleet Complete sells a bundled suite mostly through telecom carriers. Here's how they differ on hardware, data, compliance, cameras and support, and which kind of fleet each one fits.

Who You Are Actually Buying From

High Point GPS is a Montreal-based authorized Geotab reseller. The hardware is the Geotab GO device and the platform is MyGeotab, but the company that quotes, installs, configures the database, trains the dispatchers and answers the phone is High Point GPS, in French and English, across Quebec, Ontario and the northeastern US. Fleet Complete, from Toronto, built a bundled telematics suite — its own devices, apps and portal — and grew largely through telecom carriers, which sell it alongside the fleet's mobile plans. A fleet meets High Point GPS through a sales call and a site visit; it often meets Fleet Complete through its phone company.

Platform and Data

The Geotab platform High Point GPS deploys is open by design: a documented API and SDK, a Marketplace of third-party add-ins and hardware, a Data Connector for BI tools, and a rules engine configured for the fleet during onboarding and adjusted afterwards. The data is the fleet's, exportable in full, and High Point GPS writes custom add-ins and integrations on top of it. Fleet Complete is an integrated suite with tracking, dispatch, task management and compliance in one portal and one app, with integrations available but a smaller ecosystem. The trade-off is the usual one: High Point GPS gives more to configure and more to connect, and does the configuring; Fleet Complete gives a shorter path to a working default.

Compliance, Cameras and Support

Both offer ELDs certified in Canada and the US, IFTA reporting and DVIR. High Point GPS's camera options span Geotab's GO Focus Plus and Marketplace partners such as Lytx and Rosco, chosen per fleet; Fleet Complete offers its own camera line. Support is the structural difference: with High Point GPS the first call is the company that installed the fleet and it comes to the yard, while with Fleet Complete the carrier channel and the vendor share the role, which some fleets find simpler and others find harder to escalate.

Which Fleet Chooses Which

A fleet that wants to build on its data — integrations with dispatch and maintenance, custom add-ins, BI dashboards — and wants a partner in the yard chooses High Point GPS. A fleet that wants tracking on the same bill as its phones, set up with defaults and left alone, is a reasonable fit for Fleet Complete. High Point GPS has migrated fleets from Fleet Complete when they outgrew the bundle, and the migration is a device swap and a platform build, not a fresh start.

Frequently asked questions

Is High Point GPS Canadian like Fleet Complete?

Yes. High Point GPS is based in Montreal and Fleet Complete in Toronto. Both serve fleets across Ontario and Quebec, and High Point GPS also covers the northeastern US.

What is the main difference between High Point GPS and Fleet Complete?

High Point GPS delivers the open Geotab platform and installs, configures and supports it itself; Fleet Complete is a bundled suite sold largely through telecom carriers.

Do both offer a Canadian-certified ELD?

Yes. The Geotab GO devices High Point GPS installs are on Transport Canada's certified list and self-certified with the FMCSA, as are Fleet Complete's.

Can I move from Fleet Complete to High Point GPS?

Yes. Devices are swapped, the MyGeotab database is built with your groups and rules, and historical data can be exported from the old platform for reference.

Which is cheaper?

Per-vehicle pricing overlaps. The difference is in what is included and who supports it; compare the plan contents and the support model rather than the headline rate.
