How Do Samsara, Motive, Lytx and Netradyne Dash Cams Compare?

Samsara, Motive, Lytx, Netradyne and Geotab all sell AI dash cams for fleets with a road-facing camera, a driver-facing camera, in-cab alerts and add-on cameras for the sides and rear. They differ in how many extra cameras each system takes, which driver privacy options they offer, and how they are sold: Samsara and Motive sell cameras as part of their own fleet platforms, Lytx and Netradyne focus on video safety, and Geotab's GO Focus cameras are sold and installed by partners such as High Point GPS.

Every fact on this page comes from the vendor's own website or spec sheets, read in October 2026. Vendors change models often, so confirm the current version before you sign. We left out prices, and we left out the crash-reduction percentages some vendors publish, because they do not state their methods in a way that allows a fair comparison. High Point GPS is a Geotab partner and appears here as one option, described with the same kind of facts as the others.

Samsara Dash Cams and AI Multicam

Samsara's dual-facing AI Dash Cam (CM34) records the road at up to 2K (1440p) and the driver at up to 1080p, and its in-cab voice coaching responds to events such as mobile usage, no seat belt, drowsiness, rolling stops, speeding, lane departure, forward collision risk and camera obstruction. Samsara also sells a front-facing model, the CM33, and says its dash cams can record up to 12 hours after a trip ends.

For side and rear coverage, the AI Multicam takes up to four auxiliary cameras, or eight with the Dual AI Multicam, records 1080p video with optional audio, and supports self-installation. Samsara lists Pedestrian Collision Warning as live on the Multicam and its blind spot and rear collision warnings as coming soon. Samsara runs a French Canadian website.

Motive AI Dashcam Plus and AI Omnicam

Motive's AI Dashcam Plus combines the dash cam and the Vehicle Gateway in one device. Motive's spec sheet lists a 1080p wide road lens, a 1440p zoom road lens and a 1080p driver-facing camera with infrared, and detections that include close following, unsafe lane changes, stop sign violations, cell phone use, distraction, seat belt violations and speeding. It marks drowsiness, forward collision warning, stereo vision and licence plate recognition as coming soon or coming late 2026.

The AI Omnicam adds side, rear, passenger and cargo views in 1080p and needs a Motive dash cam to work. Motive offers a Driver Privacy Mode and a privacy lens cover. Its Canadian site states that contracts, key documentation and customer support are available in French and English.

Lytx DriveCam

Lytx's DriveCam event recorder uses a dual wide-angle lens for the road and the cab, records at 1920 x 1080, and gives drivers visual and audio alerts. Lytx says it detects over 100 risk indicators, such as texting, missing seat belts, following distance, lane departure and rolling stops, and that up to four auxiliary cameras can be added for side, rear and cargo views.

For driver privacy, Lytx sells a privacy cover for the inside lens and offers a mode that detects risky behaviour in the cab without recording video of the driver. Its spec sheet lists the United States, Canada and Mexico as supported countries. Lytx also makes Surfsight cameras, sold through resellers; the Lytx Surfsight AI-12 is one of the cameras that works with the High Point GPS platform.

Netradyne Driver•i

Netradyne's Driver•i cameras analyze 100% of drive time on the device. The D-810 supports up to eight AI cameras covering the cab, sides, rear and trailer, with an optional in-cab monitor that shows blind spot views during turns, lane changes and reversing. The D-450 combines a 1080p road camera, a 1080p driver camera and two 720p side cameras.

Netradyne lists more than 30 driver alerts, including distraction, following distance, speeding, seat belt, drowsiness and dangerous backing. Its GreenZone score, a number between 1 and 1,000, counts positive driving as well as risky events. An optional Enhanced Privacy Mode detects risks without recording inside the cab.

Geotab GO Focus Through a Partner, Such as High Point GPS

Geotab makes two AI dash cams. The GO Focus Plus is a dual dash cam with a 1080p road camera and a 720p cabin camera, in-cab voice alerts for distraction, fatigue, tailgating and hard braking, and an optional rear camera. The GO Focus Pro is a truck camera system: it takes up to 4 side or external rear cameras for a 360° view plus 1 more rear camera, and Geotab lists pre-collision warning, traffic light detection, licence plate recognition and pedestrian detection for it. Both come in Road Only versions, and Geotab keeps event video in the platform for 365 days by default.

Geotab sells through partners. High Point GPS is one of them: a Montreal company founded in 2013 that serves over 500 fleets in Canada and the United States, in English and French. We install the cameras with professional installers across North America, connect them to the same platform as your GPS tracking, and support your team afterwards. This route suits fleets that want cameras and tracking from one local partner, or that already run Geotab devices.

Which Fleet Dash Cam Should You Choose?

Start with where your incidents happen. If most claims come from the road ahead, a dual dash cam covers you; if they come from lane changes, right turns, backing or cargo doors, you need side and rear cameras, so compare how many each system takes. Next, decide on the driver-facing camera: every vendor here offers some privacy option, and fleets in Quebec should read our guide on dash cams, driver-facing cameras and Quebec Law 25 before switching one on. Last, ask who installs the cameras, where the video is stored and how long it is kept.

If the Geotab route fits, we can show you both cameras on your own vehicles: the GO Focus Plus for vans and pickups, and the GO Focus Pro where you need side cameras and a 360° view. High Point GPS plans are 3-year contracts with free equipment, bonuses, add-ons, custom plans and bundles. Use the free quote form on this page and tell us what you drive.

Frequently asked questions

Which fleet dash cam supports the most extra cameras?

On the vendors' own figures, Netradyne's Driver•i D-810 supports up to eight AI cameras, and Samsara's Dual AI Multicam takes up to eight auxiliary cameras. Geotab's GO Focus Pro takes up to 5 auxiliary cameras, and Lytx says up to four can be added to DriveCam. Motive's Accessory Hub expands its dash cam to up to 10 aux ports.

Can I use these dash cams without recording the driver?

Yes, each vendor offers an option. Geotab sells Road Only versions of the GO Focus Plus and Pro. Lytx and Netradyne offer modes that detect risky behaviour in the cab without recording the driver. Samsara blurs faces and offers a privacy mode, and Motive offers a Driver Privacy Mode and a lens cover. Check which option fits your policy.

Is Geotab a Samsara or Motive dash cam alternative?

Yes. Geotab's GO Focus Plus and GO Focus Pro are AI dash cams with in-cab alerts, side and rear camera options and Road Only versions. Geotab sells them through partners, who install and support them. High Point GPS is a Geotab partner in Montreal that installs the cameras across North America and connects them to the same platform as your GPS tracking.

Why does this comparison leave out crash-reduction claims?

Several vendors publish crash or collision reduction percentages, but each figure comes from the vendor's own data, with little detail on fleets, periods or methods. Putting them side by side would compare numbers that were never measured the same way. Ask each vendor for the study behind its claim, and judge results against your own claims history.
