Keyless Monitor: The Command Centre for a Shared Vehicle Pool

For keyless fleet management, Keyless Monitor is the screen a pool manager uses to check that every shared vehicle is set up and ready for Keyless, and to step in remotely when a driver can't get in. Keyless lets a phone open the vehicle, but a shared pool (twenty municipal cars, a utility's spare vans, a rental branch's fleet) still fails in small ways all day: a car returned empty, a van left unlocked, a flat nobody recorded, a booking for a unit that is still out.

For each vehicle, Monitor runs a readiness check (is the device set up correctly for Keyless, on the right plan, with its digital keys in place) and shows the vehicle's ignition and driving state and its last Keyless activity. Fuel level, location and driver-reported defects come from the GPS tracking device and inspection reports in the High Point GPS platform, not from Monitor. From Monitor the manager can locate a vehicle with its horn and lights, lock one left open, unlock one for a driver whose phone died, enable or inhibit the starter, or reset a vehicle's reservation state so it can accept new bookings. An activity log, filtered by time range, shows the Keyless commands each vehicle received.

Fewer bookings fail because a vehicle wasn't set up for Keyless, and a car left unlocked can be locked from the desk without a walk-around. A driver stuck at a vehicle gets it opened remotely instead of waiting for a key. Paired with the platform's trip data, which shows the vehicles that get used and the ones that sit, the activity history helps the fleet judge how many pool cars it really needs.

At 6:30 the pool manager opens the High Point GPS platform and sees that two of eighteen cars need attention: one came back last night with 11% fuel, the other with a cracked mirror noted on the driver's inspection. The low-fuel car comes off its 8:00 booking for a spare. In Monitor, the mirror car gets locked and its starter inhibited, and the defect goes to the shop with the photo. At 9:15 a driver calls because the phone app won't unlock car 7, and the manager unlocks it from Monitor in thirty seconds. At 17:40 a car whose booking ended at 16:00 is still out and moving, so the manager messages the driver through the app, and the return is logged at 18:05. Every Keyless command shows in Monitor's activity log, which helps settle the question when a car comes back damaged and nobody remembers who had it.

Setup takes Keyless hardware in the vehicles, the Keyless platform connected to the High Point GPS platform, and Monitor added to the High Point GPS platform for the pool managers. High Point GPS deploys Keyless with Monitor for municipal, corporate and rental pools across Canada and the United States, and connects the booking system through the API.
